Survival, Success and leadership Training
a curriculum for black males
About The Training Manual
The material within the pages of the SSL training manual is NOT taught in any public school system in this country! This manual was developed to educate black males on the importance of who they are, where they come from, and how to get to their desired destination in life. In order for a black male in America to be successful and lead, HE MUST FIRST LEARN HOW TO SURVIVE! Our boys experience unfair treatment, pain, frustration, and anger that can often times consume them. The SSL training manual is designed to train black males by using the essential strategy of EMPOWERMENT!
SSL training will empower trainees to achieve, resolve problems and construct a strong working direction for their lives and for everyone’s lives for whom they will be responsible.
The SSL training manual is essential to the development of our black males in American society. They will develop a concrete understanding of who they are, how to eat, how to think, how to pro- vide, how to make sound decisions, how to control their emotions, and most importantly how to lead (households and communities). The SSL training manual is easy to follow, but should be delivered by facilitators who have been properly trained to deliver the curriculum.
Our efforts to improve the conditions of black males in America begin right here and now! We appreciate you for joining in the fight as we work to develop our boys into husbands, fathers, leaders, and scholars.
“The growing re-segregation, incarceration and mis-education of Black children and youth threaten to undo the hard earned racial and social progress of the Civil Rights Movement, disem- power the Black community and usher in a second Post-Reconstruction Era. All Americans have a vital stake in moving forward rather than backwards. History teaches if racial apartheid hap- pened before, it can happen again unless we are vigilant and address now the huge disparities Black and other poor children of color face.”
-Marian Wright Edelman, President, Children’s Defense Fund
